International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th. It commemorates the movement for women’s rights. Whether you purposely celebrate International Women’s Day or not, it is a great time for us to reflect back on the past year and the progress we are making in equal rights opportunities for women, especially within the workplace.
There is an increasing number of women working in the marketing sector. Being a woman and finding success in today’s competitive world, in whatever field, can be a challenge. However, despite the set-backs they can face, women are making their mark and presence felt in almost every field. Below, are five of the top women in digital marketing that are leading the way for other professionals in the industry.

Madalyn Skylar
Madalyn Skylar is an influential woman in the digital marketing industry. Host of the Twitter chat and podcast, she is a woman with many talents. Not only does she blog, and create incredible content but she teaches courses on digital marketing, works as a business coach, consultant and Twitter marketing expert. As far as women in the digital marketing industry go, Madalyn Skylar is a force to be reckoned with. She has been founding communities since 1996 and is known as the number one social media influence in Houston, a city of more than 2 million people! Needless to say, she influences and educates a whole lot of people and she is certainly an inspiration to us.

Ann Handley
Ann Handley is a revolutionary. She speaks and write about the ways in which you can rethink your business marketing. She helps you to look at things from a new perspective and see marketing with a fresh pair of eyes. Not only was she cited in Forbes as the most influential woman in Social Media but she was recognised by ForbesWoman as one of the top 20 female bloggers. Ann Handley is a pioneer in the digital marketing industry. She started her career as a business journalist and editor and has climbed her way up to being the Chief Content Officer of MarketingProfs, a LinkedIn Influencer, a keynote speaker, a mum and a writer.
