How to Attract More Readers to Your Blog

So, you’ve got an awesome blog and you’ve been working hard on creating content that’s interesting, easy-to-read, and attractive to new visitors. But despite the work you’ve put into your blog, it’s simply not getting as much traffic as you would like.

And you want to attract more readers, right? So, how do you do this? Let’s find out.

Publish Content on a Regular Basis

Readers like the routine of regular content. Although compelling headlines and quality blog posts are important, regularity is key. The more regularly you publish articles, the faster your following will grow as people know that if they visit your blog on particular days, there will be fresh content available.

If you ensure you’re consistently publishing compelling content, you’ll keep your readers coming back for more.

Make Sure Your Content is Shareable

It doesn’t matter how great your content is, if it isn’t shareable it’s not going to reach very many people.

Tweetables are a fantastic way for readers to easily share snippets of your blog on social media! If your content contains some key concepts, quotable moments, or funny sentences, why not make them easy to share?

Ask People to Share Your Stuff

This may sound like a stab in the dark, but asking friends and family to like, comment and share your content is easy and it can be an extremely effective way of growing your audience. The trick here, of course, is just to be honest. Tell people you want to increase your audience and let them know that the best way to do this is by ramping up the shares.

If your friend shares your blog post with their friends, and their friends share it with their friends, and so on and so on, your readership and blog visibility can rapidly grow. So, if you’ve never asked people to share your stuff before, why not give it a go?

Rewrite Your Old Blog Posts

A great way to maintain the success of your blog is to rewrite old blog posts to keep them relevant. This is what we like to call ‘evergreen content’, that is content which is always relevant – no matter what day or time of year it is.

Use Professional Call to Action

So, your readers have got to the end of your blog post but there is no call-to-action encouraging them to come back for more – big mistake!

Leverage the loyalty of your readers by providing call to actions encouraging them to share your blog posts with their family and friends.

If others find it useful, they will share it with their friends and so on. By employing a simple call to action at the end of each blog post, you can dramatically increase the number of your readers.

Create a Sense of Belonging for Your Readers

Your readers love to feel like they belong, and you have the power to make them feel this way. Help create a sense of loyalty by creating that belonging your readers crave. One of the best ways you can do this is by speaking directly to people, involving them in your work and replying to their comments.

What’s more, this kind of positive interaction will give the appearance that your blog has a very dedicated and involved community. This gives new visitors to your website a longing to develop the relationship with you that your older audience already has.

It’s All About Quality Content

In some ways it doesn’t matter how many readers you’re attracting to your blog because if you’re not providing them with quality content, they don’t have a reason to stay. That’s why quality content is the key to your blogging success.

Prioritise the production and publication of quality content right from the start.

This means you need to edit your work ruthlessly and return to it again and again until you know that it’s perfect. High-quality content is something that is expected of bloggers. It’s timeless and impressive and will help you stand out from other writers in the blogosphere.

Headlines Matter and They Matter A Lot!

Unfortunately, this is a skill I can fall down on. However, practice makes perfect and we all know that creating an eye-catching, intriguing and catchy headline can be hard work. After all, there is a very fine line between click-bait and a well-written headline. You have to offer something unique, provide a solution to their problem, or simply capture their intrigue.

It’s also important that you break up those large walls of text in your blog posts with smaller, eye-catching headlines to make your writing easy to digest. This allows readers to skip through to the section of your blog most relevant to them.

Encourage Blogging Collaborations

Promote your blog through guest blogging collaborations. By inviting other bloggers to write content for your website, you are inviting their audience to read your content.

Also, collaborating with other bloggers proves that people are wanting to work with you – helping you to raise the game a little bit!

Maintain a Positive Brand and Identity

As a blogger, you work in the public eye and you have the responsibility to maintain a positive brand and identity. What is published on the Internet is there forever – something easily forgotten by many of us as we publish content here, there, and everywhere.

However, as a blogger you need to establish yourself as a unique, authentic, and respectable authority – a presence that new readers are happy to associate themselves with.
